How to configure Cost tracker

To know how to configure, you need to understand what fields are available to work with. There should worklogs in issues and users who are segregated in the roles.

This how a unconfigured cost tracker would look:

Enter JQL: Input any JQL query related to the project to filter specific issues. For instance, if your team categorizes story and bug issues as billable, you can locate these tasks, and our Cost Tracker will exclusively retrieve worklogs for these issues.

Start Date: Specify the start date to include worklogs starting from that particular date.

End Date: Specify the end date to include worklogs up to that specific date.

Add Roles: This section allows you to include roles existing in your instance. By selecting and adding these roles, you can view the associated roles and the users assigned to them.

Steps to make cost tracker work:

  1. Let's add roles from the "Add Roles" field and then click on "Add" after selecting those roles.

    1. You have the option to remove roles that do not have any users associated with them or roles that are unnecessary.

  2. Drilldown into any specific role, and you have the ability to remove those users from the calculation.

  3. Let's establish a rate per hour for the entire role.

  4. In the percentage column, you can configure the work percentage to allocate for each user based on how much of the work you want to count.

  5. You have the option to choose your preferred currency under "Total" and select any currency that suits you best. (This selection will be reflected in EVMEarned Value Management.)

  6. Let's go ahead and save the changes.

Optional:

  1. Feel free to add any JQL query by selecting the first field and clicking on the Search icon for a quick JQL query.

  2. You have the ability to choose Start Date and End Date in order to retrieve worklogs within that specified date range.

  3. Enable "Include in Total Cost" if you want to factor this cost into the final total.

  4. Use "Gantt Cost Tracking" if you want to incorporate this specific resource cost into the Gantt view for issue cost tracking.

Now you can see how simple it is to set up the cost tracker, right?
